Hi everyone, it has been great to see everyone back at school and to see how happy all of the children are. Thank you for supporting us with

Fri Sep 10 12:35pm

this.

I’m really pleased to see parents signing in at the gate, if they need to come on site.

As we are still in Altert Level 2, Ready for Raureka  will need to be cancelled next week.

Hopefully this will be back on very shortly  when we move back to Alert Level 1.

Take care and have a great weekend.

Greg

I’m looking forward a great day and seeing lots of happy smiling children.

Newsletter Week 7

Good morning to you all, It is great to be back into level 2. We are looking forward to having everyone back at school tomorrow. Remember

Wed Sep 08 09:15am

only the Level 3 bubble children are at school today while staff prepare programmes and rooms for everyone from tomorrow.
Tomorrow the gates will open at 8:30 and children will be able to go to their own class. School will close at 2:30 for a week and then we will go back to the 2:55 finish.
A huge thank you to all of the teachers for running such great home learning programmes over the last three weeks. I have really enjoyed seeing the great effort that the children have put in and the support shown by the parents to help them do this.
Have a great last day with home learning. I look forward to seeing the happy smiling faces tomorrow morning.
Greg

I have received the latest update from the Ministry and it is very similar to the information I sent out this afternoon. The only difference

Tue Sep 07 05:20pm

is that only children that had been attending under Alert Level 3, can come to school tomorrow, this is to allow teachers and staff time to prepare classes for Thursday. All children are able to start on Thursday.
Have a great night.

Good afternoon everyone, I am still awaiting the latest updates from the MoE about our change to Alert Level 2. I will pass this on when I

Tue Sep 07 02:52pm

get it.

In the mean time :
Yesterday I said that we would be finishing at 2:30 while we are Level 2. After due consideration we decided that we will finish at 2:30 for a week while we get everyone gets used to the social distancing and then return to our normal closing at 2:55.

OSCAR will be operating from Thursday as well.

The Ministry of Education are working with the Ministry of Health to turn the new Health Order into guidance for schools.
School will be open to all students from Thursday and we will have all the right measures in place to make it safe.
For the small number of students who have been coming to school in your bubbles, you will still be able to come to school tomorrow.

Things you need to know about Alert Level 2
1. Schools are open to everyone, and all children must attend.
At Alert Level 2 there is a low risk of community transmission. It is safe for children and staff to attend school and for school hostels to be operating as there will be appropriate measures in place, including for children and staff at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

2. Learning will be onsite with distance learning offered in some circumstances.
Distance learning should be provided for those required to self-isolate, those individuals who health authorities have asked to stay away while waiting for a test result, or those choosing to remain at home because they are at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 and are not fully vaccinated.

3. Schools are not classified as gatherings and a range of events and activities can go ahead.
For most day-to-day activities at schools, the rules for gatherings do not apply. Under the COVID-19 Public Health Response Order, schools are exempted from physical distancing requirements when people are there to receive, provide, or support education services.

Physical distancing where practicable

When considering very large numbers of students congregating, such as at assemblies and when watching sports events or cultural events on school grounds, if these events do go ahead, public health advice is that they should take place in well-ventilated areas or outdoors and spectators/attendees should be physically distanced.

As soon as your event or activity brings people onsite who are not there for education purposes, including students, parents and caregivers, then the rules for gatherings do apply. This would include performances such as school plays, cultural events and sporting activities.

4. Schools will close for cleaning and contact tracing if there is a confirmed case who was infectious when at school.
Your Director of Education will work closely with you and health authorities should this occur. Please contact your Ministry regional office if you hear of a confirmed case in your school community but haven’t been advised about it by health officials.

5. Face coverings are not required at school or on any school transport.
Public health advice now, in light of the increased risk of the Delta variant, is that face coverings for students aged 12 and over are strongly encouraged to be worn. Should they choose to, those individuals are encouraged to provide and wear their own face coverings, and to do so safely(external link)

6. Sick people must stay at home.
They should seek medical advice if they have COVID-like symptoms and get tested if advised to do so. If that person displays relevant symptoms of COVID-19, tests positive for COVID-19, or has been in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, they must self-isolate.

At all times, people who have been at a location of interest at the relevant time, or is connected with a confirmed case in some way, must follow the advice of the health authorities.

7. You must have a contact tracing system in place.
While record keeping is mandatory for many businesses and services, this is not a requirement for schools and early learning services.

The other systems and processes already in place to record who is onsite at all Alert Levels are sufficient to enable contract tracing. This includes displaying QR code posters at your entrances, your timetable, attendance register and visitor register.

8. Fundamental public health measures continue to apply at every alert level:
Physical distancing (not touching and not breathing on each other at Alert Level 2)
Hand hygiene
Cough and sneeze etiquette
Regularly cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces.
9. Think and plan carefully before you go ahead with any activity that brings a large number of students together and/or spectators are involved.
Some events may need to be cancelled or postponed when we are at Alert Level 2.

Good afternoon, you have probably heard that we will be changing to Alert Level 2 as from 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday 7th September, and schools

Mon Sep 06 05:49pm

will be open from Thursday morning for all children.
This means that until Thursday we will need to operate Level 3 protocols with our bubbles operating, and only those children who have registered can attend.
On Thursday morning all children will be able to come back to school and have regular classes. Please no children to arrive at school before 8:30 when the gates will be opened. School will start at our regular time 8:55 and we will keep the shortened lunch time until we move the level 1- this will mean that school will finish at 2:30 each day with everyone having left school by 2:45 p.m.- this will help cut down on the physical contact between children.
There are some other changes for as well and everyone will need to scan into school and maintain a 2m gap.
Mask wearing is not mandated but it is recommended masks are worn for those over 12. If you want your child to wear a mask they can.
We will not be having assemblies as gatherings can be no more than 50.

I will let you know of other changes as soon as the Ministry of Education let me know.

Take care, we’re looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Thursday morning.

Greg

Good morning everyone, we are still in Level 3 and only those children who have registered should be at school. we find out today what will

Mon Sep 06 09:05am

happen from Wednesday onwards. As soon as we know if there is a change we will let you know how we are managing the changes.

Thank you for supporting us, take care.

Thank you to all the families who have already completed the google survey about their child(ren)’s attendance during level 3.

For those who have yet to do this, we’d appreciate it being completed ASAP.

Raureka School Level 3 Attendance Survey

While at level 3 school will be very different to our normal school day. The children will be very limited with what they can do and where they can go. In the classrooms we have to stay 1 meter away from each other and when outside 2 meters away from each other. The children can not share equipment, use the classroom games etc. Classroom learning will be sitting at their table following the online learning set by each class teacher. There will not be any sports equipment available during the short break times. We learnt last time that this is hard on the children as they can’t work with or play with their friends.

We have found the diagram attached is very helpful when deciding if school is the best option for your tamariki at level 3.

A huge thank you to all of the families that have already filled out the questionnaire for Alert level 3 attendance from Wednesday. We can

Sat Aug 28 10:42am

only take families that register so please fill out the questionnaire as soon as you can. We need to ensure that we have the correct size bubbles and everything is safe for everyone.
The questionnaire was sent out on the app, on facebook and on Seesaw yesterday.
Have a great weekend.

Attendance Survey for LEVEL 3. We need all families to complete this by Monday 30th of August at 10 am so we can plan for our school bubbles

Level 3 Attendance Survey

Level 3 Attendance Survey

Raureka School, Hastings. COVID 19 MOVE TO ALERT LEVEL 3 27 August 2021 Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whanau Raureka School will be open

Fri Aug 27 06:27pm

under ALERT Level 3 from Wednesday 1st September for students who need to be at school

We will survey you to find out if your child/children will be attending school during ALERT Level 3.

Our day to day operations must ensure that all times the health, safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is paramount.

-The front school gate will be opened for students between 8.45 am and 8.55am (no earlier) NO parents/caregivers or other adults will be permitted to enter the school site (past the entry gate) This ensures the safety of our ‘school bubble’.

-Students must bring a named drink bottle and morning tea.

-Lunch will be provided, the fruit will not start until we are at a lower level.

-All siblings from one family will be in the same bubble.

-Bubbles are grouped generally into junior/middle and senior school students

(this will be dependent on student numbers) Bubbles will not mix during the day.

-There will be strict hygiene and physical distancing that will be adhered to by all attending school. In class, students will sit and work in one space only. Inside the school gates students will practise 1 metre PHYSICAL DISTANCING. Outside the gate  students must maintain a 2m distance away from anyone else.

-All bathrooms and classrooms have hand sanitizer.

-Students will sanitize their hands prior to leaving classrooms at the end of the day.

-Any student that has or develops an illness, MUST NOT attend school. We ask that you discuss and practise ‘correct coughing and sneezing techniques’ with your children.

-We ask that you limit any visits to the School Office. Please email/phone in your queries.

-The Sick Bay areas will not be operating.

-Home Learning Programmes will operate for all students. This means that all students who attend school will continue to participate in their online Home Learning Programme supervised by teachers and Learning Assistants. Students working at home will NOT BE disadvantaged by not being at school. Home Learning will continue to be sent to you by your child’s teacher.

-Entry and exit to school

In the mornings we ask that you drop your child/children at school as normal, practising SOCIAL DISTANCING (2 metres apart from others) and leave your child at the gate for them to make their own way to class. Our school gates will open at 8:45 continue to be locked after the 8.55am school bell. School will finish at 2:30 and all children will need to be picked up by 2:45. At home time as you wait outside the gate for your child to exit, please practise SOCIAL DISTANCING.

It is very important that we model correct ‘safety behaviours’ for our students.

Our staff at Raureka will do their utmost to ensure the safety of your child/children during COVID-19 Alert Level 3, however we cannot guarantee that children will have absolutely no physical contact with others during the day or be coughed/sneezed over.

Kind regards

Greg and Staff

Good afternoon, you will have heard that on Wednesday 1 September we will drop to Alert Level 3. At Alert Level 3, tamariki (children) and

Fri Aug 27 04:54pm

young people should learn from home. Schools will be open for those tamariki (children) whose parents or carers need to go to work and no one is able to look after them at home.

We will provide distance learning options for all tamariki (children) who are learning from home, including those tamariki (children) who need to self-isolate and cannot attend school.

Please note we will start school at 8:55 and finish at 2:30 to minimise contact between bubbles. The children will only be able to interact with others in their bubble and stay 2m away from each other.

We will send out a questionnaire shortly to see who may be coming to school on Wednesday so we can set up our Bubbles.

Look out for the questionnaire and stay safe. We’re going to beat this virus.

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend is going well. Next Friday we were supposed to have a Teachers Only Day where all schools from the COL met

Sat Aug 21 11:03am

together and no children were to be at school. We have decided to cancel this day entirely. This means that if we are out of Lockdown School would be on as usual and parents won’t need to find someone to look after the children. If we are still in lockdown the teachers will be providing the online learning for the children.
Remember vaccinations are still open during lockdown, follow this link for more information https://bookmyvaccine.covid19.health.nz/

Instruction will continue to be online.
If you need extra help please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll see if we can offer some support.
Unfortunately we cannot provide any devices for use at home because they are all locked down into the school system and cannot easily be unlinked.
I’ve been very pleased to see the fantastic efforts by our children on Seesaw. Thanks again to the teachers for organising this online programme.
Take care and stay safe.
Remember to wear masks.

Kia ora koutou You will be aware a confirmed case of COVID-19 has been identified in the community in Auckland. As a result, and because

Wed Aug 18 09:41am

of the much greater risk associated with it being the Delta variant, New Zealand has moved to Alert Level 4 last night. Auckland and the Coromandel can expect to be at alert level 4 for seven days. The Alert Level 4 setting for the rest of NZ will be reviewed at 72 hours.

While the resurgence of COVID-19 is the last news anyone wanted, it is unfortunately what was anticipated. This extremely short and sharp shift in Alert Level settings will support us prevent widespread infection in the community.

Our staff have started putting together programmes of work that can be accessed using Seesaw.

Your child’s teacher will send information to you on how to access this.

Keep a look out via the school app and seesaw for futher updates.

You can also check the school website as at the bottom of the front page it has a copy of the notifications sent out.
